2021 Varsity Playoff Games

LCC 3  – Torrey Pines 10

The Mavs rose to the CIF Final where they again faced the undefeated Falcons. The game was held at at Westview High School, a neutral site. The Falcons scored early against a seemingly unprepared Mavs defense but then the Mavs held them off for a full 35 minute stretch. The Torrey Pines team was stacked with players from outside the county who were seeking to play during the pandemic. The Mavs played hard but were unable to overcome and settled for 2nd in the CIF Open Division Final for the San Diego Section.

LCC 10  – Cathedral Catholic 9

Due to a previous loss to the Dons of Cathedral Catholic, The Mavs were the 3-cede while the Dons were the 2-cede. This meant the game was held at Cathedral Catholic. The Cathedral Catholic fans cheered, “This is our house!” but when the Mavs pulled ahead in the game, Mavs fans cheered back, “This is OUR house”! It was a joyous evening! KUSI was there to cover the action and interview Ben Beacham after the game.

LCC 11  – Santa Fe Christian 7

The Mavs hosted Santa Fe Christian at home. This win sent the Mavs to the CIF Semi Final.

2021 Varsity Games

LCC 9 – Torrey Pines 14

The Mavs were defeated by a stacked Torrey Pines team at home! The Mavs came out fighting. Mitch Likins put in an outstanding effort at goalie. The Mavs came within 2 points but ultimately were not able to pull this one off.

LCC 11 – Westview HS 0

Westview was no match for the Mavs who shut them out handily. Ben Beacham scored five goals for the Mavs. Additional goals were scored by Caden Wadsworth, Luke Sillstrop, Beau Hokansen, John Ristuccia, and Noah Beacham.

LCC 12 – San Marcos HS 5

Senior Night

 

 

Despite struggling at faceoff, the Mavs beat the Knights at home! It was an evening to remember with a Senior Night celebration honoring Noah Beacham, Matt Bull, Cade Ebbers, Kevin Frazier, Tyler Lamoreux, Mitch Likins, Cole Martin, Ethan Pearah, Chris Shaddle, Walter Trostler, Caden Wadsworth, Jaden Woodard, and Robert Zegras.

LCC 12 – Poway HS 3

The Titans of Poway dominated the faceoffs but the Mavs won by a healthy margin. Caden Wadsworth was the top scorer for the Mavs with other goals scored by:  Noah Beacham, John Risuccia, Tommy Bull, Luke Sillstrop and Carson Craft.

LCC 20 – Carlsbad HS 3

La Costa Canyon wins against the Lancers! Goals were scored by Ben Beacham, Luke Sillstrop, Caden Wadsworth, Tommy Bull, Noah Beacham, Ryder Ochoa and Walter Trostler!

LCC 19 – La Jolla HS 4

La Costa Canyon wins against La Jolla! Despite a spotty record at faceoff, The Mavs dominated with six goals scored by Ben Beacham, five by Luke Sillstrop, and the rest scored by Tommy Bull, Caden Wadsworth, Nate Krute, Beau Hokansen, and John Ristuccia.

LCC 8 – Cathedral Catholic HS 12

La Costa Canyon faced the Cathedral Catholic Dons on home turf. The Dons showed up with an energy level off the charts which extended into their cheer section. Goalie Mitch Likins made many great saves but the Mavs struggled at faceoff and ultimately the succumbed to the Dons.

LCC 12 – Grossmont HS 7

Grossmont put up a good fight but were no match for the Mavs! Noah Beacham led goals and Ben Beacham led assists. Ben added to the scoreboard along with teammates Ryder Ochoa, Caden Wadsworth, John Ristuccia, and Nate Krute. Flynn Hogan hoovered up five ground balls and the Mavs, as a team, played a great game!

LCC 13 – Scripps Ranch HS 0

La Costa Canyon wins against the Broncos! Faceoffs were mostly won by Ryan Leung. Luke Sillstrop made five goals for the Mavs.  The remainder were made by Noah Beacham, Beau Hokansen, Carson Craft, and John Ristuccia.

LCC 15 – Rancho Bernardo HS 1

La Costa Canyon wins against the Broncos! Luke Sillstrop led both scoring and assists. The other eleven goals were scored by John Ristuccia, Caden Wadsworth, Carson Craft, Noah Beacham, Cooper Durfee, and Beau Hokansen.

LCC 16 – Canyon Crest Academy 2

The Mavs are victorious against CCA! Face offs were taken by Domenic Viotto, Stellan McGowan and Tyler Lamoreaux and mostly went in the Mav’s favor. Luke Silstrop and Nate Krute each scored 5 goals with the remainder being scored by Carson Craft, Beau Hokansen, and Noah Beacham.

LCC 13 – St. Augustine 4

La Costa Canyon won against St. Augustine on home turf. Goals were scored by Caden Wadsworth, Luke Sillstrop, Carson Craft, Beau Hokansen, John Ristuccia, Ben and Noah Beacham and LSM Flynn Hogan!

LCC 16 – Del Norte 1

La Costa Canyon started the season off right with a win against Del Norte! Ben Beacham took 9 shots resulting in 5 goals.  Carson Craft scored four goals. Other goals were made by Beau Hokansen, John Ristuccia, Ryder Ochoa and Noah Beacham. Cole Martin dominated on defense.

2020 Varsity Games

LCC 11 – Cathedral 8

La Costa Canyon wins 11-8 in a battle in the rain!!! Battling injuries and sickness the Mavericks had players step up all over the field!!! Mitch Likins made his first start of the season in cage while Caden Wadsworth made his first career start on attack finishing with two goals!!! Chris Shaddle stepped up huge taking every LSM run while Walter Trostler, Shane Cohen and Cade Ebbers were fantastic in the middle of the field. Flynn Hogan, Jaden Woodard and Cole Martin were fantastic on close defense all night. Noah Beacham was our catalyst finishing with 5 goals and 3 assists!! Younger brother Ben Beacham was huge as well with a hat trick!! It took a true team effort to earn a victory against a tough Cathedral team.

LCC 4 – Woodlands 10

Mavericks fall to our always tough rival from Texas, The Woodlands School, 10-4. Dominating defensive and goalie performance propelled Woodlands to a convincing victory.

LCC 17 – Kingwood 5

La Costa Canyon beats a tough visiting team from Texas, Kingwood, 17-5. Tied 3-3 after one quarter the boys needed some momentum and Senior Captain, Hunter Binney stepped up big time!! Man Down and no outlets available Binney took the ball coast to coast and scored his first career goal!!! Incredible play putting the ball in the top left corner. 11 saves, 4 groundballs and a goal for Hunter. Our other two Senior Captains were incredible in the win with Trey Kockler scoring a career high 4 goals and 3 assists while Heath Nilsen continued his success with 3 goals and 5 assists. Woodlands(TX) up next 7pm at home on Monday!!

LCC 15 – Rancho Bernardo 2

La Costa Canyon Mavericks beat visiting Rancho Bernardo Broncos 15-2. Midfielder Shane Cohen was outstanding all over the field putting up a Career High 4 goals(on 4 shots), 6 groundballs and 8/9 at the faceoff X!! Jacob Tauss added 3 goals and Heath Nilsen again had a monster night with 6 goals and 2 assists. Sophomore Defenseman, Flynn Hogan, had 4 caused turnovers and 3 groundballs to lead the defense to another strong effort!!

LCC 26 – Mission Hills 1

Mavericks win 26-1 over visiting Mission Hills. Emptying the bench with every member of the team earning playing time it was a great team victory for all of our boys with several first career goals including Case Wagstaff, Carson Craft, Cooped Durfee and Rob Zegras. Starting attack of Heath Nilsen(6 & 2), Luke Sillstrop(2 & 2) and Ben Beacham(4 & 2) combined for 18 points in the win.

LCC 18 – Santiago 4

La Costa Canyon wins home opener against the always tough Santiago Sharks 18-4. The away team came in and gave the Mavericks everything they could handle with the score of 6-4 after the first half. LCC went on a 12-0 run in the second half to finish strong. After letting up 3 goals in the first quarter LCC defense and Senior Captain Hunter Binney in cage only let up 1 goal in the following 36 minutes. The Beacham brothers combined for NINE goals; Ben Beacham scored 5 goals in his freshman debut while his brother Noah was right behind him with 4 goals!! 5 goals and 2 assists by Senior Captain and Quaterback of our offense, Heath Nilsen. Great team win!!!
