2020 Varsity Games

LCC 11 – Cathedral 8

La Costa Canyon wins 11-8 in a battle in the rain!!! Battling injuries and sickness the Mavericks had players step up all over the field!!! Mitch Likins made his first start of the season in cage while Caden Wadsworth made his first career start on attack finishing with two goals!!! Chris Shaddle stepped up huge taking every LSM run while Walter Trostler, Shane Cohen and Cade Ebbers were fantastic in the middle of the field. Flynn Hogan, Jaden Woodard and Cole Martin were fantastic on close defense all night. Noah Beacham was our catalyst finishing with 5 goals and 3 assists!! Younger brother Ben Beacham was huge as well with a hat trick!! It took a true team effort to earn a victory against a tough Cathedral team.

LCC 4 – Woodlands 10

Mavericks fall to our always tough rival from Texas, The Woodlands School, 10-4. Dominating defensive and goalie performance propelled Woodlands to a convincing victory.

LCC 17 – Kingwood 5

La Costa Canyon beats a tough visiting team from Texas, Kingwood, 17-5. Tied 3-3 after one quarter the boys needed some momentum and Senior Captain, Hunter Binney stepped up big time!! Man Down and no outlets available Binney took the ball coast to coast and scored his first career goal!!! Incredible play putting the ball in the top left corner. 11 saves, 4 groundballs and a goal for Hunter. Our other two Senior Captains were incredible in the win with Trey Kockler scoring a career high 4 goals and 3 assists while Heath Nilsen continued his success with 3 goals and 5 assists. Woodlands(TX) up next 7pm at home on Monday!!

LCC 15 – Rancho Bernardo 2

La Costa Canyon Mavericks beat visiting Rancho Bernardo Broncos 15-2. Midfielder Shane Cohen was outstanding all over the field putting up a Career High 4 goals(on 4 shots), 6 groundballs and 8/9 at the faceoff X!! Jacob Tauss added 3 goals and Heath Nilsen again had a monster night with 6 goals and 2 assists. Sophomore Defenseman, Flynn Hogan, had 4 caused turnovers and 3 groundballs to lead the defense to another strong effort!!

LCC 26 – Mission Hills 1

Mavericks win 26-1 over visiting Mission Hills. Emptying the bench with every member of the team earning playing time it was a great team victory for all of our boys with several first career goals including Case Wagstaff, Carson Craft, Cooped Durfee and Rob Zegras. Starting attack of Heath Nilsen(6 & 2), Luke Sillstrop(2 & 2) and Ben Beacham(4 & 2) combined for 18 points in the win.

LCC 18 – Santiago 4

La Costa Canyon wins home opener against the always tough Santiago Sharks 18-4. The away team came in and gave the Mavericks everything they could handle with the score of 6-4 after the first half. LCC went on a 12-0 run in the second half to finish strong. After letting up 3 goals in the first quarter LCC defense and Senior Captain Hunter Binney in cage only let up 1 goal in the following 36 minutes. The Beacham brothers combined for NINE goals; Ben Beacham scored 5 goals in his freshman debut while his brother Noah was right behind him with 4 goals!! 5 goals and 2 assists by Senior Captain and Quaterback of our offense, Heath Nilsen. Great team win!!!
